Catalunya MotoGP: 600cc proposal unveiled as 250GP replacement

Engine capacity for the new 250GP replacement class will now be 600cc, despite fears such a proposal would be in direct conflict with the current World Supersport series. To avoid any clash, Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta proposed displacement for the new class should be between 625 and 650cc when the issue was discussed at the French GP in Le Mans. But the...

600

Im a huge fan of the smaller classes in motogp and it will be sad to see the 250s vanish, but on the brighter side of things it can only be a benefit to the young talent we have in this country. Most of our homegrown talent comes from 600/superbike background so it surely must help their cause to get a competitive ride in the new class

250's

I dont want to see the smaller classes go either. I do understand the times are changing but why cant 400cc 4 strokes be used which will still keep the power down and fisical size small? The difference between the 600 and 800's will soon be shrunk in a couple of years as we have seen with the 990's and 800's and it will all become one. Thats why we like the way it is now!! Another thought is will the rules allow V4's 6's ect?? Now that might be fun!!!

Not a good proposal

Once more it seems the organisors have gone to honda and asked what they want then put that forward as a proposal. 600cc is far to close to the 800cc class. This is purely a means to sideline world supersports races and demean the WSB/BSB brand. It will very quickly be amended and the quality of riders will probably rapidly deminish
