Bikers protest the price of fuel with motorcycle ride-outs

Hundreds of riders brought roads to a standstill in two newprotests against the price of petrol on Saturday. In Scotland, around 300 riders were led by police from Kinross, Perthsire, over the Forth Road Bridge into Edinburgh, before congregating in the city centre. And in Wales, around 80 riders formed a Convoy on the M4 before being blocked from entering Cardiff...

"People who took part have completely lost faith in the police" what's that about then?? should they NOT "escort" such a large group? Any ho aren't "we" missing a trick here? wouldn't it be REALLY good if as part of such actions we highlighted how much more economical bikes are against "cages" (just a thought!) GV8

half a story

Unfortunately this is only half the story. The protesters had agreed with police to let 20 of their group through Cardiff city centre to continue their protest as the whole group was too large, they even shook on the deal. When it came to the crunch however the police decided that because the organisers had not supplied the exact details of the 20 to go through the town centre , none were allowed through. What difference these details would have made is a mystery.

Fuels Protests

I participated in the Scotland Protest and can say as much as we all complain about the police, they were fantastic on the day, getting the group safely from start to finish. I have to congratulate the organisers from for the time and effort they put in to organising this event. It was great to see riders from all over Scotland take the time and make the effort to attend. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the media coverage. Very poor if any stories at all on the news or in the papers. Well done again to both the police and the organisers.
