Help - Advice please!!!

I have a 2000 W reg Suzuki SV650S.  I was out on saturday and after a couple of hours riding stopped for fuel. When I got back to bike it wouldn't start. I had been riding with my lights on.

I bump started the bike a all seemed fine but I noticed my speedo and rev counter needles were going haywire. Also the fuel light was flashing but I knew Ihad just filled it up. I turned my lights off and everything was back to normal.

When I got home and switched the bike off, I left it for a while and when I went back to it, it started ok.

Any help would be appreciated as I am not mechanically minded at all.

SV650s

Thanks for the input.  I've checked the battery and that's all ok.

I'm beginning to think it may be the reg/rec.

Im not...........if the reg/rec had gone then the charging would just diminish and you would end up with a flat battery.

It seems that it only happens when you use you lights...........Obviously  faulty earth or something else somewhere.

Thanks Fuzzy.  I'm not in any way mechanically minded so I may have to get someone who knows what they are doing to look at it.

dont know owt about this bike, but some have a diagnosis system that makes rev/speedo needles jump to certain positions to  point out faults.

try disconnect battery, then wait a while, reconnect.

Thanks Steve.

I've had the battery on trickle charge and been out for a ride out recently but rode without lights on and had no problems.

check the feed to your battery with voltmeter

ask dealer what it should be while running. if all ok yer battery may be knackered. not sure, but it may be 13.5 volts feed...
