Misano MotoGP: Rossi takes home victory and equals Agostini's record

After Casey Stoner crashed out early, Fiat Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi claimed victory today at his home track in front of his many fans, bringing him equal with legendary racer Giacomo Agostini's 68 win record. It was a landmark day for the cheery Italian rider, because not only did he equal Agostini's win record, he did it by claiming his...

Congratulations Valentino, we knew you'd do it...

Shame for the sport there was no big battle between the top guys but Rossi was eating Stoners lead every lap again and the Moaning Aussie crashed under the pressure once more. Rossi made history again today with a double hit; first time win at Misano and equalling Agostini's record. He so deserves the title this year now and it would be cruel bad luck to not get it. As for Stoner I'm just glad he didn't win because the atmosphere at Misano would have been like a graveyard. Maybe yhe saved himself the embarressment of the silent crowds?

San Marino Motogp

What a terrible pity the whinging pom oops sorry Aussie had a sore hand and could not push his Ducati around to get the spare point for 15th place which remained unclaimed at the conclusion of the race. One cannot help but wonder what caused the Duke to go kissing tarmac this time??? because it certainly will not have had anything to do with the input from Super Oz. Casey do us all a favour keep it rubber side up so we can at least enjoy a race.

Rossi

It'll be very difficult for Stoner to come back from a 75-point deficit now. Rossi was closing Stoner too, so would have been nice if he'd stayed on because there could have been a scrap towards the end. Was there a better place for Rossi to equal Agostini's record?! At his home race where he hadn't won before! Great rider. I reckon Jorge Lorenzo's the next Valentino...

Rossi legend

I agree totally i think stoner is that worried about getting into a battle with rossi now that he over rides the bike to get away. After rossi duffed him up in laguna he has him running scared. It makes me laugh stoner back to his good old crashing best hahaha. So happy for tino to match Ago's record well deserved. Ive watched him since his first race in 125s and to see him achieve what he has is fantastic. And all this rubbish about stoner is the only one who can ride the duke clearly he aint!!! Well done elias for showing everyone that stoner aint as good as he thinks he his by riding better than the whinging git on a satalite bike.

HAIL VALE...46

after posting a thread (story) just after the laguna seca event slating stoner i must say that even tho he's hit the ground 3 times in a row and it has helped rossi to his 8th world championship i would rather have seem them battling it out right to the line rather than him handing rossi the title...jorge will be the biggest threat to rossi next year because he is special...s'pose we'll see....

Rossi almost home & dry

It's a shame Stoner's front tyre let him down today (not the Aussie's fault you understand!) but it would have been great if Rossi could have diced with him. Perhaps it was better they didn't go head-to-head as I think Rossi has messed with Stoner's head enough this season! As for saying Lorenzo will be Rossi's biggest threat next year, I absolutely agree. Lorenzo is probably as good as Rossi in terms of skill and race craft. He just needs to find his groove in the senior class and avoid injury to get a good run at the championship. With Pedrosa on Bridgestones and Stoner on the robot bike I think Rossi will have a mountain to climb next year!! But if anyone can do it ............

IF lorenzo switches to bridgestone or if michelin come good lorenzo will be a force...a one tyre rule with no traction control and rossi could reach the big 10....and im 100% serious...pound for pound rossi is the best...as for not the aussies fault im not so sure...is he not just pushing to hard with the words "must beat rossi must beat rossi" floatin around his head...just like gibernau

Perhaps I am a little too zealous about Lorenzo, but he is one of the most impressive guys for years. Would he flounder without traction control? Who knows, but he did well in 250s without it. As for Stoner blaming his tyre, I meant the comment tongue-in-cheek. I think this tyreproblem is just an excuse to save his pride. Crashing 3 races in a row!!! Damn that is embarrassing for the current world champ!. He was pushing to the limit knowing that if Rossi caught him he would distroy him physically and mentally. Stoner pushed too hard and crashed. To save face he blamed the tyres (a good workman never blames his tools Casey!!). Rossi has shown himself to be the master once again.

i would like to see lorenzo take over from vale because he is charasmatic and talented with a good attitude, although like was said by bbc the crashes he had brought him down to earth and stopped his (maybe) excessive cockyness and he is now a great ambassador for the sport,i wonder if simonchelli will come to motogp and if so how he'll do...???
