Triumph Street Triple R (2008-2012)

Triumph’s standard Street Triple mixes Triumph Speed Triple style with the tech of a Triumph Daytona 675 engine. It's light, fast, fun, agile, stylish and cool... and it just got even better. The 'R' version comes with fully-adjustable suspension and fiercer radial four-pot Nissin front brakes, making it the perfect bike to tempt UK riders away from their sportsbikes. Triumph have been planning...

Street Triple

Its a nice bike, and looks wise its capable of grabbing the attention of would be jap nakeds. However, the fuel economy doesnt compete with the japs, and with fuel prices as they are, this will be a consideration for buyers, who may decide to stick with the proven reliability of the japs.

Street Triple

I absolutely Love my Street Triple!! It is far better than any of the japanese competion! ( I know rode most of them!) And as far as fuel economey goes hadn't really noticed it being excessive.I got 165 from a tank when I went down to Brighton the other day and that was with some 'enthusiastic'riding! If you want good fuel economy buy a CB500 or an ER5 and die of boredom!

Error in 'Value' text

Hello, I have noticed that in the 'Value' section its stated that the ST £5399, I believe that this is wrong and you price you will have to pay is £5,750 as the hiked the price up... Anyway, they are both stunning bikes! The orange will be the fastest! lol

Street Triple

After riding one, (having then at the time the Speed Triple) I found the leg angle more accute and a long journey would be more tiring.Over all it is a very nice bike only let down by Triumphs woefull build quality,Perhaps when they lose more customers, (like me) they might listen.

Street triple R

Test rode one today (20/12/08) in the cold and rain :(

I almost cancelled because of the weather but I am glad I didn't, I had a great time.

I currently have a 2007 cbr but will be trading it in as soon as I can (prob next week), the triples engine is fantastic, open it up at 2000 in third and it pulls hard all the way to the redline. No more thrashing the cbr over 8000 rpm for me.

Also comfort was really good the soft seat and upright position meant that after 50 minutes I felt fine (although wet and cold).

I had lots of fun, which was the important bit, the bike even on standard exhausts sounds beautiful.

The comment about economy confuses me, triumphs are usually quite good, the bike said it was averaging 40mpg, which for a thrashed demo bike is good. Also the build quality seemed good, no corrosion even on the bike that is out in the salt regularly. I had a sprint a while ago and that was built well too.

I will be ordering the grey one, with hugger, bellypan, cowl, screen and tank bag. The dealer said they will throw in the cowl and screen gratis (all fitted free).

Can't wait! I don't think I have been as impressed with a bike so much before, and this was in crappy conditions.

Well done Triumph.

Owen

Puts new life in an old s*d

A severe case of anno domini (and kn*****ed back )meant that I had to consider replacing my ST1050 with something smaller & lighter. Drew up a list of "possibles" and arranged test rides, at the end of two days was feeling pretty despondent - nothing really had the character/joy to ride feeling that I was looking for. Until - last test ride which was a Street Triple - it took 30 years off me - great engine, handling & brakes. Back to the dealer & ordered a "R". Can't wait to get it!

Great all rounder!

Like stuoyb I'm also an old git with a dodgy back. Had to sell my MT-01 because of it :-((. I'd already seen the Street Triple and was immediately drawn to it because of its light weight and low seat height. So I took my dealer's Graphite R out for a test ride (twice!). What immediately impressed, coming from the MT-01 torque monster was the available torque this little bike produced and how good it was to ride. At the price it's a very good value and it has character which seems to be absent from most of the other mid-range bikes on offer these days. I bought the demo bike with all the goodies and the Triumph alarm fitted and I've now covered over 3000 miles (since July) and I'm well satisfied. You can find fault with any bike and the Street R isn't perfect but for me it's good enough. You'll find me at www.street-triple.co.uk which is a good place to find out anything youmay need to know about this cracking little bike! Jeffers
