Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade (2009-current)

The big news for the 2009 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade isn’t its new, oval-shaped indicators, but its revolutionary electronically-controlled Combined ABS system. This makes the Honda Fireblade the world’s first ever ABS-equipped superbike. This system takes none of the enjoyment out of riding this incredible superbike and it feels just the same to ride as a normal Blade, even on the...

2009 CBR1000RR

I sold my 2006 already. I can't wait to start riding mine. I got it for Xmas, for US$ 11,299 with ABS, but the estimated delivery date is Jan 15, 2009. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

blade

I took this bike for a test ride and was blown away , brakes , handling and acceleration are out of this world , to easy to ride very fast and anyone who says boring is full of s*** ,  pig ugly though so I'll be staying with the R1 .     One thing though a mate dropped his 2 week old blade on a roundabout while getting his knee down (his fault not the bike )  the bike hit nothing and seemed to slide gently for about 20 feet , no bouncing or collisions ,  It was written off !!!!!!!!!!  frame and swing arm damage ....  UNREAL

09 fireblade

i see it says the top speed is 180mph, but i've seen videos of this bike reaching 299kph stock (almost 186mph) with slight rpm room to spare. thought it would be intresting to let people know this bike can potentially hit 190mph. ride on~

09 Fireblade c-abs

It took a while but i finally got one, and wow what a bike, it looks the bollocks, it sounds the bollocks and as for speed let's just say every time i get on it i cant get the smile off my face for days. it's very easy to ride, and i'm quite new to riding. the breaks do exactly what it says on the tin... amazing. it feels heavy when your standing still  (c-abs adds 10kg to standard bike)but when your on the road it's nible like a 600rr only more power.

Learning to love the blade

I finally took the plunge and bought this bike - decent deal from george whites. I was concerned about the oil consumption and it is something I will keep a close eye on. I thought it had used loads of oil but when I took it back to the dealer who had recently done its first service they checked it again and said it was fine. Apparently it is tricky to check properly, you need to have it bolt upright and on perfectly level ground. Also they told me that it is best to lock the dipstick in by a turn of the thread. I re-checked later on and it was fine. I have done 1000 since the service and put in aprox 1/2 litre. I will be happy enough if it stays at no more than this - I suppose 2 litres between services is just about OK. I havn't fallen for it quite as I did with my beloved R6, but it is growing on me. Big flowing A roads is where it is at its best - the engine is fantastic, and it is almost as nimble as a 600. The only minor gripe I have is with the paint on the tank which marks up very easily - my fault for buying black I suppose - any suggestions on tyres??

Underrated?

The Fireblade always get criticized for not putting up the big HP numbers of some other "liter" bikes, or not having the character of the European competition, but when it comes to published acceleration and lap times in comparison tests, it somehow seem to come out on top.
