Shorter ride height bikes?

Hi there just a quick question... Me and my girlfriend are looking to learn to ride this year... With me being 6 foot 1 i dont have a problem getting on any bike... But my girlfriend is only 5 foot tall and was wandering if there were any bikes out there for her???

She sat on honda shadow but hated it.... She wants something more sporty looking.... Any advice would be greatly welcome....

Many thanks Rob....

Loads

As you say you are both looking to learn I take it you're looking at 125's initially.

Don't know of any sporty looking bikes with a lowish seat height in this category. Suggest you both have a good look around the 2nd hand market at bikes such as the Yamaha SR125 or Suzuki GN125. Even the likes of the Honda CG125 is reasonably low in seat height.

Both are good reliable machines & are quite forgiving in thier handling. Plenty of time for sports bikes later.

When you progress to full licences & are loking for something bigger just remember that any bike can be lowered to make it more friendly to the shorter rider. :smile

Another option

There is another option.  I have an advantage living in Hull.  Here we have a specialist centre that can alter any bike to suit your height, they measure you up and alter the bike to suit.  Have a look at http://www.drshull.co.uk/

Short rider

I'm barely 5'2" and currently ride an SV650S which has been lowered. I did have a CBR400 (NC29) which was an absolutely ace bike, easy to handle and very low (my feet were flat on the floor and knees were still slightly bent), but maybe not so great for long distance stuff although I went all over Lincolnshire, Cornwall and a couple of trips to Wales on it from Surrey.I would suggest going to a few dealers and sitting on various bikes to see how they feel.

bikes for the smaller lady

my other half set herself on a busa after passing her test, reality sank in, now has an 08 er6f, lowered with suspension, seat and stand, she says she is 5'0 but i actually think she is 4'11 and a bit, which apparently is only an inch or so away from officially being a midget!
