driving ban

when i was a young lad i was very stupid and was banned for drink driving (dr10) i served my ban (20 months) and have definatly learned my lesson.
my question is i know i have to inform my insurance company about my ban and have done for the last few years, but when can i stop, when does it get removed from my licence and does the removal time start from my ban date or when i got my licence back. also insurance company's ask for a 5 year history does this work by the same timescales. thanks of your help could save me a fortune

Licence to DVLA

I don't know if you've followed this site for long, but don't send your licence off to DVLA without first taking a copy.  They've a habit of "losing" your m/c entitlement and it can be a pig getting it back.
