Busa back tyre

hi all, I'm looking to change bikes this year (currently on a 12 Bandit) and I'm considering a Busa. Only thing that puts me off is what reviews say on the life expectancy of a rear tyre. I'm sure if you ride like a loon the rear boot will be canvas in 1000 miles, fair enough. But will a Busa really destroy a new tyre just nipping down the shops for a loaf of bread?

Loud switch

It would all depend on how you operate the loud switch (throttle). If your wacking the throttle open regular your unleashing 140bhp on the back tyre at peak revs. Thats sure to destroy a tyre no matter what bike your on. Use the throttle more conservativly ( or short shift sooner ) and the tyres will last longer cos theres less bhp being unleashed. Performance Bikes and Fast Bikes etc. tend to focus on power and looning about on bikes but not everyone rides like that - we'd be skint if we only did 2000miles on a set of £250 s/sport tyres!

Rear tyre

As hdnixon says it all depends on how you ride. I normally get around 2500 miles from a rear tyre, but that is using sticky tyres & I change them before they legally require it. (The handling goes to pot when the profile goes) The last time I rode to Spain to do a track day I made it on the one tyre, just! It was totally shagged by the time I got home. I always ride solo, if you regularly carry a passenger at speed then expect tyres to vanish pronto. The combination of high speed & weight kills tyres.

BUSA TYRES

I HAVE GOT A 52 PLATE BUSA CURRENTLY RUNNING ON AVON AZAROS, NOW BEFORE YOU SAY (BUSA, AVONS, GOOD GOD!) I HAV DONE JUST OVER 2000 MILES ON THEM AND STILL HAVE 6mm LEFT OF TREAD ON THEM IN THE CENTRE. AND YES I TEND TO RIDE FAST AND UNLEASH ALL THAT BHP WHEN THE ROADS WARRANT IT AND SOMETIMES JUST NORMAL RIDING. MY SUMMARY IS GOOD VALUE AT £135 THE PAIR, STICK LIKE GLUE, WARM UP VERY QUICKLY BUT CANT SAY WHAT THEY ARE LIKE IN THE WET,DONT LIKE RAIN MUCH.

12 becomes 13

Cheers lads, Nipped to a couple of bike dealers today to get new breeks for the missus and ended up buying a 'busa. Felt at home on it straight away and decided I was buying it a couple of minutes into the test ride.

Back Tyre

I have owner 3 Busa's now and never, other than 1 puncture, had less than 5k miles from a rear tyre. Everything relies on the way you ride. I have found that fast of the line is not always the best way to ride as if you are a smooth and steady rider you will mostly catch the speed away guys in the bends.

I highly recomend BikeSafe with the Police! they promote fast, smooth riding which WILL save you LIFE and TYRES therefore saving you money.
