Suzuki TL1000S clutch.

The clutch on my TL is heavier than a moto guzzi.:upset: I've adjusted it and fit a new cable but I still need a grip like Arnie. Can anyone help? Thanks Pedsred.

SUZUKI TL 1000S MODEL?YEAR?

Hi pedsred

I know you have just replaced your clutch cable, but did it snap? or was it very heavy and that is why you changed it?Is the old cable free moving?

So when you replaced the cable did you check the spiral type adjuster was moving freely? if its seizing it will need stripping cleaning and regreaseing. Also there are two clutch push rods, one directly under your spiral adjuster, this is the short one of the two check it is again its free moving and not bent.{If the chain has ever snapped this can bend this rod}If it is free moving and not sticking with chain lube crud, then you will need to check the second rod.Sometimes just leaning the bike hard over will see it come to the oil seal end, if it does it is probably ok but if you havent found your problem then you will need to remove and inspect it.Pop the oil seal and take it out check the two cross ends turn free and its not bent. You may need a thin magnet stick to remove this rod if it dosn't come out when leaned over.If its none of these then you have a clutch problem. So i will go there if need be.Good Luck

clutch renewal

very often when replacing clutch plates, people are advised/sold a set of heavy duty springs. They are very rarely needed. Perhaps this is what has happened.

Springs usually are colour coded, with a splodge of paint. No idea what colours it should have though. A set of standard springs should only cost a fiver or tenner.
