173mph driver spared jail

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20090320/tuk-173mph-driver-spared-jail-term-6323e80.html found this whilst browsing, and it got me wondering if a biker would of been let off? no.

and it just goes to show just how inacurate the 'police pilots' are.

173 mph driver

its true,if you go onto BBC radio derby and listen again the item was on about 5-10pm,he addmitted 105mph in a 50 zone, but got off cos police couldn't prove his car would go that fast,Lotus said top speed for that model was 127mph,he sold the car to someone in Germany (conveniant!!) so it couldn't be tested to see if it was chipped but 105 is still 55 over limit, biker sent to jail 122 in a 70 limit was only 52 over, inconsistant rulings and biker victimisation, car man got 2 year ban and £5000 fine

Let Off

You're having a giraffe.!

£5000 and a two year ban sounds pretty hefty to me..!

Btw I am not defending the driver, inlight of the biker jailed for dangerous riding or was it speeding..  it does seem unjust ...!

i meant let off a jail term. . .  because the bloke who got done for 148mph (on a dual carrigeway) got a 28 day sentence (and 2 yr ban). . and that was with the same speeding device?

If the Police evidence was flawed why did he need to plead guilty to a lesser speed?

He should have told them to shove it due to lack of evidence.

Para

Funnily enough, I thought the same thing.  If the police clocked me at 173mph on my bike (offficial top speed 112mph), I wouldn't admit to anything over the limit and let the prosecution do their best.
