Poll: Which bike is the world's best all-rounder?

The world's best all-rounder motorcycle is identified once and for all in the April 8 issue of MCN. What do you think will win and why? Let us know by voting in our poll and commenting on this article. The new KTM SMT will take on the BMW R1200GS and the Honda VFR800, but they will also be ridden alongside the Suzuki...

Too Small A List

The list given is way too small, there are so so many all round bikes that you may as well say which 'class' is the best all round. For me it's either a Triumph Sprint or a BMW R1200GS, or a Honda CB500, or or or

VFR800

I agree with ztolley, the list really is too small, but out of the four, the VFR800 has got to be the best all-rounder. It's slightly sporty but practical, comfy and a thing of quality. I wouldn't want one personally but as anall-rounder, the VFR has to take it.

Problem is you say 'world'

In Asia / India it will be the C90 or a cheap 125.

In Italy a duke

In USA a tractor (sorry Harley)

In Germany see USA bit change Harley for BM

All depends who's answering and what their situation is...

All-Rounder

Waste of time voting because the GS will be supplied with the usual £2,000 of extras and will therefore, surprise, surprise, be voted the best equipped.. and the editor rides one and refuses to publish letters even remotely critical of this overpriced tractor. Yes, I've ridden one and the vibration was simply unacceptable for a machine that is supposed to be so well-developed.   Where's the ST1050 or  Tiger,  and yes, I agree with the comment on the C90 - they were going round the world before Charlie Borman etc were born!

Suzuki SV650s.....

The almost hated all-rounder.

It does everything, but costs nothing

To buy new or used. insure, repair, maintain, tart-up even race!

The greatest bike Suzuki have ever made ......... Easilly.

If you wanted to spend more than £4500 ...... Is say ....... suzuki or kawsaki 750cc superbikes from the early naughties.

But yeah .... If you had to decide on more power, the SV comes in 1000cc format.

You know who's a good and fast rider by how you use a bike, someone on an SV who is fast is HATED on a trackday by the litre-shock-crop who cant ride on a corner.

Nuff said!!!!

C90 is a great shout, I love the SV650 too and I am a little surprised the GSX-R & VFR get shouts over the Sprint ST (especially since that was considered the VFR beater). But what is really considered all-rounder? Does the bikes have to cope on track, roads, commute, pillion on back, green laning (you get my point)? Putting bikes on the road and then Brands answers another question... what is better on the road and track?
