Video: KTM Adventure v BMW GS on the beach

The KTM 990 Adventure takes on the BMW GS Adventure in this week's MCN. Does the KTM have what it takes to beat the BMW GS's blend of long-distance comfort and off-road fun? Find out in the April 8 issue of MCN. Considering a trade in? Sell your bike with MCN for £9.99 MCN's Adam Child took the bikes to Pendine Sands...

Best MCN video ever

Here I am in the land of the free, and the home of the brave.  Still too cold to ride my KTM Duke, too cold for my BMW R1150RSA and there you guys are out on the beach.  Even the music is mint.  I love the over-the-shoulder shot where Adam Child turns around and smiles like he's really having a good time.  You've captured motorcycling.  Damn good work.

Saltwater?!

Doesn't the salt ruin the bikes?

Yeah big style, but the bikes were thoroughly hosed off and cleaned straight afterwards!

Off Road capabilities?

How does sliding a bit and riding up and down on flat firm sand test the off road capabilities of these bikes?

And the music was pants

Last time I look at an MCN video after getting an email

KTM wins as it should

So why was no one sliding about on the BMW? I tested both bikes in Arizona and the KTM is the best ever. I'm an R1 freak but that 990 was fabulous. Except for the ass-killing saddle. BMW was to ponderous and heavy but gorgeous to look at and comfy. I did ride my R1 on Daytona Beach...pathetic. Not a bad video lads.

"testing" - what testing?

Blimey. I waited half an hour to download this video in Patagonia, southern Argentina as the net is a tad slow. What a waste of time! Two of the greatest adventure bikes ever going in circles and through a bit of water? I could fart and make a better vid than this! "Urgh, we drove all the way down from Yorkshire just to prat about in the sand..." Why bother?

Pretty poor effort, guys

I know this is a teaser for buying the paper, but I'd still expect a LOT more effort than that.
The video is a waste of time spent watching it, and completely uninspiring.
It seems to have 10 seconds of skidding KTM, repeated over and over - Was this a one-bike video?
I honestly believe my 10-year-old daughter good have put together a better teaser with less effort.
- It's actually put me off buying the paper.
Also, can someone mention to your techies that when someone turns the vid volume down using the slider,
when it automatically replays (which is also a pain!), the volume resets to full again.
- It's just woken my 6-year-old up again! Can someone sort it please?
