How do you or would you test the fuel pump on a 94 RF600?

What's

Fuel pumps got to do with having carbs or fuel injection??
Not all carbs are gravity fed. In fact very few sportbikes / faired bikes from late 80's onward have gravity feed only, most have an auxiliary or complete supporting fuel pump.

To check a fuel pump you run a 12V supply to both terminal of the pump, after either draining the float bowls or disconnecting the fuel pipe and pointing it into a container to catch spilt fuel.
If it clicks and spits fuel out it works, if not, it doesn't

I don't know, however

Fuel pumps are a means of getting fuel to the device that feeds fuel into the combustion chamber, be that Carbs or Fuel injectors.
My Virago 535, had a fuel pump as sole means of getting petrol to the carbs, my ZXR has as an auxiliary unit, my Honda Bros which i sold a while ago had a fuel pump, my friends Honda CBR600F has a fuel pump, they all have carburettors.
Most 80's onwards sportsbikes have auxiliary pumps as the shape and placement of the tanks means gravity can't force enough fuel in alone when you open the throttle wide, the pump then kicks in when the vacuum demands a sudden inrush of petrol.
All cars have fuel pumps due to the tanks being level or below the engine / carb, some use mechanical pumps driven off a cam in the engine, most have an electric one
