I have just got a k5 1000 and the front suspension is on standard settings. It seems a bit soft on front and rebounds quite quickly. I was thinking about tightning up the preload, would this help.

Hi again, your weight about average and your bike has done nowt, you can go down a groove on the preload but what damping force have you? Is there a rebound damping adjuster on top of the forks and a compression damping at the bottom of the forks?

thanks for your reply, yeah there is compression adjustment and rebound adjustment on the forks. I am a bit confused about what the difference is between compression  adjustment and preload adjustment.

I`m spending more time with you than the wife,  Preload is compressing the spring, rebound and compression damping is adjusting the speed of the flow of the oil.
