Finally, Honda’s VFR1200F officially breaks cover

It’s been the worst secret in motorcycling for years but these are the first official pics of the 1200cc V4 VFR1200F from Honda. More info on the Honda VFR1200 The bike is the new replacement for the VFR800 and the Super Blackbird and will be on sale very soon with a claimed 170bhp and 95 lb ft of torque from the all-new...

Tourer?

Isn't the great thing about bikes that they can be what ever you want them to be?  I've toured Scotland on a CBF500 this summer and been to Spain on a FireBlade, a friend of mine travels to Cornwall from Hertfordshire on a regular basis on a T Max and wouldn't have anything else

General opinion...

...doesn't seem to be good for this bike! there seems to be nobody considering buying one. Looks like the styling missed the mark with most people too, whats interesting is they haven't classed this as a sports tourer, apparantly its a 'road sport' motorcycle, whatever that means. As for drag racing one at Santa Pod with SprintSt, how exactly would that be a good way to judge this or any vfr? its not a drag bike. its would be a pointless exercise. A bit like expecting a considered intellegent reply. a waste of time. :P

The kerb weight of 267kg is outrageously high. They need to lose at least 40kg from that.

To me it looks fugly .. but then these things can grow on you.

But ... as a current blackbird owner there's no way that V4 VTEC thing will appeal to me.

From what I know from within most the blackbird community that appears to be the majority view .. and I believe was fed to Honda UK.

I also note the thing is fly-by-wire throttle control ... no thanks Honda .. when you never managed to solve the loom problem on the blackbird (despite claims it was resolved), leaving up to owners to get out the soldering iron.

Why on earth do you think I'd trust your to get the wiring right on something like throttle control.

Looks like I'll be keeping the 'bird for a bit longer .. or maybe a closer look at the ZZR is the way to go.

Well done Honda

You seem to have succesfully made a BMW sport tourer, cracking!

Nothing wrong with BMW touerers but really, all the bloody hype and look at it, it's boring

It'll be interesting to see how many of these bikes will be sitting in the showrooms 12 months from now. I just can't see it selling well if it is, as rumoured, "around £12,000".
