to buy or not to buy

apologies for the lack of posting over the past two years but i could do with some opinions.

I have 6k burning a hole in my pocket and i'm wondering whether to buy a benelli tornado or not (found one new for around this price :D).

now my dilema is that ever since I saw this at an MCN show at ali pali, this has been a bike i would love to see in my garage. But is it going to be the bike of my dreams to own??? anyone any thoughts? please

It depends

if you are going to keep it mint, and just use weekends, go for it. I have spoken to a few people that have them, and they love em.

Not for everyday transport (although somebody on here may prove me wrong!)

Hi Salopian,

Ride before you buy- so visit the NEC and book a ride!

Should you buy one?

If your thinking with your head, hell no, by but there's more to choosing a bike than getting the best bike for your money. If you REALLY want one you should go for it. it will certainly get plenty of attention where ever you go! but unless your heart jumps and you grin just looking at it, buy a fireblade.

....

As a few people have said, this is a great bike, has great performance and some amazing trick parts on it. Now for the down side, the resale value for this bike is around 2000. If you trade it in you will even be lucky to get that for it after one year. They do not hold their value for some reason. Saying that, you can get the 1130 version for about 7000 now and its one hell of a bike providing you are not looking to sell it on. I would say buy it if its a dream bike for you.

Tornado

I would consider it. Speak to the Benelli owners club about them (they were at the Festival of 1000 bikes at Mallory a few weeks ago with around 15-20 tornado's). Most owners seem impressed by them but are a little upset that the price drop is affecting resale values (typically £3,500 + for a private sale tornado nowadays). Benelli have been bought out by the Chinese however the bikes are still being assembled in Italy at the old Benelli factory.
