BIKER or MOTORCYCLIST

Just to add a bit more depth into this topic there is another category : Petrol-head.:doubt:

I will put myself into this category. 2  / 4 or no wheels doesn’t matter as long as it goes fast, can be raced or has mind boggling power I’ll like it.

Hills

What about the Marilyns then? you forgot about them?

In Scotland, Marilyns tend to be sidelined by other lists of hills based primarily on absolute height, such as the Munros, Corbetts, Grahams and Donalds, though all Corbetts and Grahams, about two-thirds of the Munros, and around half of the Donalds are also Marilyns.

Not that I have walked any Donalds as of yet.  And up here it would seem to be the thing of bagging as many Munros as possible for some.

BIKER or MOTORCYCLIST

MMMM seam to have found some clarity  now, just went to the driver canteen for a ciggy and seen a few lads looked a bit bikerish (well as per stereo type) and asked them biker or motorcyclist well turned out neither had a bike or license for one, but did find out the difference between a trucker and truck driver I would think that this could also be applied to motorcyclist vs bikers.

Trucker = Clean truck with add-on’s - lights, bullbars etc

Truck driver =  Dirty truck dents & rust, usually completely standard as it came out of the factory.

Motorcyclist = Clean bike with add on’s

Biker = Dirty bike full of rust & dents

I see this as the motorcyclist being the real modern day hardcore rider.

hmm

I do think that we are on the border of the territory of the Deviancy Amplification Spiral (ok not criminally) when referring to people as either bikers or motorcyclists.. I think it is just another 'pigeon hole' as stated before for those who look upon us so that we can be categorised and segmented from other people in society. My personal opinion is that is doesn't matter what you class yourself as or what others class you as, the primary concern is whether or not you are a decent person and if riding is your passion, hobby, something to do now and then, or a necessity then just enjoy it for what it is... don't conform to societies need to put a label on you and stick 2 fingers up and say " I am who I am and thats that"....

Here endeth the Father_Jack sermon....

Hmm...

Sounds a bit like a paraphrase of Gloria Gaynor's "I will survive"

My bike's clean, mostly.  Not dented yet! No add ons yet either.

I'm not a dirty trucker, or a pheasant plucker

Writing crap on here, must be a silly f*cker :smile

Hope that clears things up. :winkie:
