Is it possible to be both?

The biker thing seems to be very much a lifestyle choice, whereas motorcyclist seems to relate more to an activity? I'd have to say I've got a foot in both camps really!

Further pointers in keithvmx1200s post about last run of the year (re: Hogging the Bridge) not all are on  big american v twins.

Biker

My daughter says I'm a biker, and I would tend to think that way, tho I'm not scary or hairy!

It's not my only vice/pleasure, but it's the best fun I have with my clothes on.

the rest of us are, im afraid, people who have a bike. and car.

Why say 'I'm afraid'- there's nothing wrong with being a 'motorcyclist' ... in fact although I have always considered myself a 'biker' I have never meant it in the ....... 'lifestyle choice' way ...you know - leather tassles, heavy rock, grubby fingernails, tattoos and piercings, shades and pony tails (that's the blokes btw Lol!)  etc... maybe for these people a bike is just an accessory to go with their image...At least a motorcyclist is not pretending to be something (a stale something that's past it's 'use-by' date).

No, a motorcyclist is just a honest bike owning individual who owns a bike because they love riding ...... not because they are trying to fit into a 'lifestyle image' and make some kind of 'statement'  :winkie:

Bikers

belong to MAG. own more than one bike. ride for any/all reasons. have a good line in self-deprecation. view the world through cynical eyes.

Motorcyclists belong to BMF. can be a bit anorakky (?) take themselves seriously.

Just opinions not based in fact, or any other quantifiable criteria
