Donington Park given two week reprieve

Following reports in the National press suggesting that Donington Park will lose the 2010 Formula One race, the Leicestershire circuit has been granted a two week extension by F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone to prove the necessary funding is in place. With its F1 future hanging in the balance next years WSB and BSB races could also be in jeopardy if...

Beginning of the end?

No MotoGP and now potentially no F1. If Bernie's lot pull out I can't see what backers there are left (if there ever were any) stumping up to finish the work. Are we going to be left with an unfinished building site? I hope not. For all it's faults, I have enjoyed the racing there over the years.

Not a prayer

There's more chance of James Toseland being invited around to Colin Edwards for xmas dinner !!....At this rate, the F1 will be held at Mallory Park............cant see why not........Its facilities arent any worse then Donington parks !

no hope

Simon Gillet was full of the proverbial when he was trying to calm people down after q'ing for 4 hours for Moto GP, and he's full of it now!! Donington have had this long to prove they have the money, another 2 weeks isnt going to help!!

What a hole!!

As well as other past visits, I have done BSB, WSB, & MotoGP at Donington this year. It is high time that Gillet & Co. was just allowed to go bust, and the circuit was placed in the hands of someone that can actually run it. The 'facilities' there are truly awful, & the camping becomes like the Somme when it rains! Piss up's & breweries certainly come to mind! Please let MSV have it, & let Johnathan Palmer get his commercially astute hands on this otherwise fine circuit, for the good of the fans. And yes, I agree with JTfan that four hours to get in or out is not the modern way!

Farcical

Even if Gillett and his crew DO get to host the F1 British Grand Prix, apparently spectators will have to use public transport to get in.

Will somebody give the bloke some marbles, as it looks like he's lost all of his !!

Forgot...

...to add, totally agree with KeefyPee - Donington needs somebody like Jonathan Palmer and MSV to run it

Not good enough

For the past twenty years have kept going back to Donington as its a sound track, but as a punter just get treated worse and worse.  Gillett just comes out with the guff that he thinks folk like the f1 people want to hear. He won't get the money together, he won't get an f1 race and he'll probably ruin a good circuit while he's at it.  Donington has had too many chances and although I don't like silverstone it deserves a chance with moto gp and to make race fans feel wanted again.
