QUESTIONS

Righto Andy, first off the definitive price would be nice. When will all the extra goodies be available as one would be extremely peeved to buy one in the next few months only to find out that from mid 2010 some of the more exotic goodies that have been mooted become available. Of course the 64 million dollar question what it rides and handles like in the real world. Stay off the Saki as we want a sober judgement and enjoy your wee sojourn to the far east and remember  the no glove no love rule. Ciao

Ask him when it's still sitting in the showrooms this time next year - like all of Honda's current range, apart from the blade - how much are they going to discount it by?

Apart from the blade..

CBF1000, CB1000R, CBR600RR, CBF125, CBR125, ST1300, GL1800, CB1300SA, VFR800, etc etc etc, All of Honda's range? its really only the adventure stuff and cruisers (and of course the spectacular flop of the DN-01) that suck at the moment, most of the range is pretty good, if a little stale in places.

I agree i guess, most of their stuff is good, but my local shop has had the same stock all year. Don't know if it's a regional thing, but Suzuki's have always sold well here (W.Mids). Just finding it hard to get too excited about the new VFR i guess. I grew up riding Honda's and they were the manufacturer of the best bikes in every class. These days....well, like i say, i just find it hard to care about them.

If depends what your dealer has in stock, if he's got a stack of Deauvilles/transalps and DN01's then they will be getting pretty dusty! I know what you mean about not being excited about the current Honda range, while most of the bikes are very good, they seem be avoiding risk taking with the looks at all costs, certainly the CBF's could look ten times better, without costing any more. the new XJ6 manages it. With the other big three now offering comparable build quality (more through honda's slipping than anything), its becoming increasingly hard to justify buying a Transalp for example when the F800GS and Versys are much better looking, have similar performance and are so closely priced. but like I said, the sports or touring Honda stuff always sells pretty well, just a shame they neglect the rest of the range.

I had a go on the Transalp and it's a lovely little machine, but like you say, if the price is wrong, then they won't sell. It's no good the Honda boys saying that the quality is better than the rest, because while that was true in the 90s, today it's just not true. Back to the original topic - Andy, see if there is any truth in the rumour of a new Big Yamaha Super Tenere. That would make a few arses twitch at BMW!!

Apart from the obvious 'how much will the damn thing cost' question we all want to know, I would like to know whether the exhaust is stainless steel throughout. I know it seems an odd question but at the rumoured price it should be. and secondly why the tank is smaller than the outgoing VFR (22L versus 18.5), Oh and ask him what the hell happened to the 8v oval pistons, I remember the NR750 coming out and thinking one day I'll have a V4 with 32 valves, but alas 17 years later I'm no closer! Bunch of play-it-safe wusses!

I gota question you can ask..

What do Honda think most current VFR riders next bike will be because it sure as hell wont be the BMW1200F.

On second thoughts, don't bother, if Honda had a clue about what people wanted from a motorcycle they would not have produced the current crop of pink elephants.
