Front Brake 'pulsing' on GSX-R750

Can anyone give me advice on whether I should replace Front discs on my 2002 GSX-R750 K2 as the front brake has started to 'pulsate' slightly? Pads are ok. Is there any other 'remedy'?

Cheers

Discs

Check with a micrometer to see if the discs have uneven wear. This can be caused by wheel misalignment. 1/2thou is enough to cause the pulsating.

Check the run out of discs & wheel using a DTI (clock). if the wheel is sound but run out on discs then the discs could be warped.

If you haven't got the tools, find an Engineering chum who has.

Come back with a bit more info'

pulsing

I had no end of trouble with this on my gsxr750k4. Two pairs of discs replaced, wheel bearings, head bearing checked apparently curing it but then problem comes back. Eventually another pair of ebay discs and replaced wheel bearings and head bearings at same time and it finally seems OK. It seems as though even the slightest out of adjustment/true can give trouble, especially bad on track days braking from high speed. Good luck, looking back I could have saved a lot of time getting all of these replaced first time but....

wheels

When I had this problem it was caused by the wheel bearing housings being machined out of true to the wheel.

This caused a constant rubbing in two opposite sides of the discs.

After approx 1k miles this caused uneven wear on the discs which made them grab & gave the pulsating at the lever.

The dealer had fitted 5 sets of discs under warranty before I finally worked out what the cause was.

A new wheel complete with bearings & discs cured it.

The run out measured at the wheel rim was 0.020" or 0.5mm in metric and 0.010" at the discs.
