Hector Barbera top rookie at Valencia test

I think you will find the all singing all dancing Ben Spies is not a rookie as he has raced moto gp bikes for both Suzuki and Yamaha

Hector doing all right

Barbera has been impressive this year. Gone were the wild antics of old with a much more mature rider showing through. After a very solid win Sunday he is following through nicely with his transition to the big bikes. He looks a very poised rider on any machine. Very little body movement and probably the most subtle degree of hanging off I've seen from any top tier rider 250 / motogp in the modern era. Good luck to him. Sounds like the 2010 Duke just might be the machine to be on?

Hondasixrr is right

A bit of an oversight on the part of Motorcyclenews.com. Ben Spies is also considered a rookie, even though he competed in one race this year. Just because a rider had a wild-card ride (or two) does not make him a veteran. 2010 is his rookie year as well as for Barbera, Simoncelli, Bautista and Aoyama. Sloppy journalism indeed.

Spies

Spies was over a second quicker than Barbera. He is a rookie I think. Top journalism

and spies of course!

Finger on the pulse stuff from MCN again!  Wild card rides don't count towards rookie status. well said Honda six. Rookie year is first FULL year in championship.

spies rookie

Ive seen this article all week and i forgot about spies until reading these comments. No doubt he's a class rider but he IS that forgettable, I dont know why he just is. But hey.... its not about personality or likeability its about talent, and he's got that in bundles
