And this means what?.... Absolutly nothing!.. Well ok maybe pub bragging rights but that's about it. As if 99% of folk who buy one are going to be able to tell the difference between it's and all the other zxrrgsxrrrs track performance.. i doubt that many will be ridden in any sort of anger out on a track neither. And I really doubt that folk on there usual Sunday run can notice this race track greatness...Because we all need and can use this sort of performance on the road cant we? All it is.. Is ohh luck at my shiner new cock.. it can lap so so track at... And I swear I've shaved about a day of my quickest time from home to the cafe on it.

It's performance is totally lost on me too.  Racing heavyweight twins (Buells) was my thing and even that amount of power ridden in anger on the track could sometimes scare the hell out of me in some situations.  (Yeah!  Go ahead and laugh!  :p)  Even though it's pointless on the street, I still don't want anyone to take away all the buying options.  Even though I won't buy it, I can still appreciate the thing and admire it.  Good on BMW for bringing a stinger missile to a gunfight.

BMW Performance

This is mightily impressive. All that remains is to have this scintillating performance translated to WSBK. They haven't set the world on fire yet & haven't even sniffed a podium finish. My guess is that they won't come close to winning a single race this year. It might happen due to the misfortune of others, not because of outright power & pace. They'e still the slowest bike in a straight line (check the statistics in www. worldsbk.com.) It appears that BMW have "souped up" their road bike to such a degree that they cannot extract much more bhp from the motor, unlike the Japs & the Italians (think M3 3.2 litre.) who have a lot of room in reserve to up the power of their bikes. The Beemer is also making its power at an astronomical 13000rpm. Their Japenese competitors are making theirs at 12000 & even 11 600rpm! The Japs & Italians will simply raise the rev ceiling on their new models, thereby equalling or even bettering the BMW's power output which will put everyting into perspective. It's just a matter of time before normal service is resumed.... The race track is the real proving ground, not some obscure test track based in the middle of  nowhere. Oh, in case some people have forgotten- BMW Motorrad have employed the services of a former WSBK champion and multiple race winner. So we cannot blame the riders if they fail to deliver the goods. I hope the desired results come sooner rather than later or else all the media hype will amount to nothing. I hope they don't pull out of  WSBK like their F1 team did when they failed to achieve success over the best part of a decade. By the way, I'm a passionate Suzuki fan & hope we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the GSXR in style by scooping all the championships this year!

Master Racer

It's ALL about bragging rights down the pub! Like the Z1 in the seventies, the GSXR 750 in the eighties and the Fireblade in the nineties with this bike BMW have moved the game on. If you love engineering and technology you have to be impressed at what they've achieved with this bike especially when you consider this is a first effort. Even if you own one of the bikes it so comprehensively annihilated you've got to admit it's a piece of work.

Before blurting out sensationalist headlines like that what are the lap times for each bike are ?

When we see the lap times, track conditions and who was riding each bike then we can decide if there was any annihilation ?

Otherwise its just pub talk.

"Annihilates"

MCN-speak for a couple of tenths?

On second thoughts guys, headlines like this make me not want to read this week's copy to find out. Or any other week's for that matter.
