General run around

Hi folks,

Passed my test a while ago but only ridden bikes abroad till now. Decided to finally get me a bike of my own. I'm a tall bugger at 6' 3" with long legs and don't want to spend more than 2 grand. I'm after a London commuter but also something I can take on longer trips now and then. Not fussed about image but need something relatively reliable.

Any ideas or offers gratefully received

What about

the Hornet. I'm 5'11" and fit ok. Might be a bit small for you but bloody good all-rounder and you can pick up a good 2000(ish) model for £1200-1500.
