Casey Stoner boosted by Nicky Hayden resurgence

Casey Stoner has backed factory Ducati team-mate Nicky Hayden for a successful 2010 MotoGP campaign after the American finished winter testing in promising form. Hayden concluded the shortened pre-season campaign with the fifth best time in Qatar last week, which followed a hugely encouraging third place in the second Sepang test in Malaysia last month. Hayden had a torrid early 2009 when...

Go Nicky!

The show needs a few more riders mixing it up.

Thankfully

Ducati showed a little faith in Hayden and honoured the 2 year contract he was offered.

It makes me laugh when manufacturers give a rider 1 season to get used to a completely different bike and get rid of them when they don't put the results in.. These things NEED to be nurtured for at least 2 seasons and the proof of this is Valentino's career... (a year to learn/ a year to master). Obviously it's not always going to work as in James Toseland.. the perennial 6th place MotoGP man.

And it would be good to have a rider in the top4 who is not one of the 'usual' top4... Good luck Nicky!

Great isn't it. A bit more luck than he had last year and he could really be in the mix.

the article states Hayden had a torrid early 2009, however he seems to have done better than anyone else on the Ducati, Stoner aside. I don't think 2009 was that bad for him.

Hayden actually was pretty unlucky last year, 2 or 3 times at least he was wiped out by other riders through no fault of his own.  He finished the year strongly and looks confident so far this year on the new Desmo.

I wish Hayden all the luck but unfortunately I don't think he will be toasting Stoner any time soon.
