mysterious crash

hi, wondering if anybody has any advice to give on this : i went out yesterday afternoon on my 2009 z1000 abs, lovely sunny day, perfectly straight resurfaced (about 6 months ago) road which is less than half a mile from home, no other traffic other than my dad who was on his bike about 50 metres in front doing about 25-30 mph when out of nowhere the front end of the bike dove as if the brakes had locked on causing the bike to go one way and me the other, when i picked the bike up and pushed it to the nearside kerb it was wheeling freely, no sticking or grinding of discs. luckily i'm ok, the bike not so, its getting picked up on monday morning by my local kawasaki dealer in order for them to check it out and advise where i go from there, i.e who's going to pay to have it repaired. i took photos of the road in order to show the weather condition and type of road it is. has anybody had anything similar happen to them or if not anybody with any thoughts/advice to give ?

Good news!

Now a fault has been found you must push hard for  full repair and new gear as well as a fully insured loan bike whilst yours is fixed. I think that your dealers sounds a good one and will fight your corner.:smile

I agree with Jaffa

Do they know why the pads have fused to the calipers?

If it's discovered to be a defect I would at least be asking for a free courtesy bike, free insurance, replacement lid, leathers, boots, gloves or anything else damaged in the accident - even if you don't want to be compensated for your injuries.

Kawasaki should be more than happy to give you everything you require, as they know you could sue for a lot more.

Test Kwaks customer service for the rest of us - let's see if it comes up trumps or not.

update

good news, kawasaki have offered me the updated 2010 bike as a direct replacement for my bike, they have also agreed to replace all of my damaged gear, so all in all i have to say that kawasaki, both my local dealer and the guys i spoke to at head office have been fantastic and i couldn't fault them for the way they've handled their customer relations.

Great result...

...but have you had any explanation of exactly what caused the unexpected braking?
