Raidal tyre repair

Can an expert please answer the following?

I've got a rear tyre puncture in Michy Pilot Power, i've just done a general internet search on bike tyre repairs and there seems to be conflicting info on weather or not you can repair a radial motorcycle tyre, something to do with the radial belt running through the middle of the tyre???

The tyre is only a day old with about 50 odd miles on it, if a repair is safe then that is what ill do but if not it will put me off the road for a while as im a little cash strapped at the mo, especially after shelling out over £200 notes on a pair of tyres!!

Please help

Puncture

As triumphrider has already said, the Code of Practice says that Z-rated tyres cannot be repaired and you may have difficulty in persuading a tyre depot to do it.
If it is a slit in the tread as you describe, it may well have damaged the nylon/rayon/steel belt. The consequences of a belt failure at high speed make me shudder - sounds like hand-in-pocket time, unfortunately.

Radial tyre repair

Radial tyre repair. In January 2010 our son in law bought a motorcycle, in September 2010 he had an accident. Examination of the bike revealed that the back tyre had been repaired with a vulcanised rubber mushroom bung. In September 2011 we had the inquest for our daughters death, who was a passenger on the bike. The tyre manufacturers, present at the inquest said that the tyre had been repaired incorrectly. The hole was outside the recommended area. The plug was the incorrect size, 6mm instead of 3mm, and it was out side the narrow area designated for repair. The previous owner also failed to mention that he had repaired the tyre. As a result our daughter died, our grandchildren lost their mother and our son in law lost his wife. How much does a new tyre cost? A temporary repair used for a prolonged period can cost a lifetime of heartache.

OMG

there is very little that can be added to that apart from how really sorry for your loss we all will be.
