Helmet review: Shoei Hornet DS

Shoei Hornet DS, £370Miles covered/time: 4000/two months What’s good? Finally I’ve found a helmet that doesn’t leave me with a painful pressure sore on my forehead. Save £££s on motorcycle helmets Being in a motocross style it has buckets of space in front of my face which makes it less claustrophobic to wear. Shoei vs Arai vs AGV

I did my research. I looked at all of the specs. I looked up the best prices online. Then I went to try them on. Rejected the Arai at this stage - Arai are built for round heads. My heed is more pointy apparently. So the AGV or the Shoei? The AGV was too new in the niche and whilst it was good kit just not right. Wildcard option at this stage was the Roof Boxer V8. Too much decal, not enough chin bar fasteners so that had to go. So I got the Hornet. Happy. It's a good fit - tight round the sides or maybe that's just my big ears. Forehead is snug but it stays in place at speed fine. The peak is sturdy and doesn't generate the wind noise or buffeting that some riders complain about. It's very light and a solid helmet.
