New Budget Bike for new rider

Hi All

Hopefully passing my full bike test in a few weeks and will be looking to upgrade, ideally i have about 1200 pounds to spend and struggling with no idea of what bike to get, have been advised due to a bad back to look at cruisers but am realistic that these are out of my budget, problem is i have worn lower discs so i need a bike that will take the pressure of my spine with any jolts, wondered if anybody had any ideas, my thought look was at suzuki bandits but unsure of how theses would affect my back, any advice would be welcome.

Thanks

Have a test ride.

Back pain is really difficult to predict so have a test ride on a few different types of bikes. You might find the slouched riding position of a cruiser is not that comfortable...
There are a few bikes that should be in your price range though:
ER5 - traditional roadster with easy riding position.
CB500 is slightly more crouched.
XV535 Cruiser. Cheap with shaft drive (but slow).
GSX600F - a more comfortable sports bike that is usually good value for money.
Bandit - traditional roadster.

BTW What are you taking your test on? Is that comfortable?
