It is not just Nigeria (or maybe it is not them at all).  I live in France and when selling a Yamaha scooter received exactly the same sort of emails from La Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, etc.  The simple answer is to tell them that you will accept payment in cash when the item is picked up.  You wont hear from them again.

same as me

Same thing happened to me got suspicious when cheque arrived amount on cheque was wrong and the stamps were from nigeria as well, he said he was from Portugal heres the e-mail address Thought it was weird when he wouldn'y give me a phone no.
