Electric Fault

Hi, I have a 1995 Triumph Daytona [900cc] some times when i go to start here she won't but if i pull the clutch in and press the starter switch she fires up then after a run of a few miles i pull the bike up and put here in neutral but the green neutral dash light does not come on, If i stop the bike at this point and put the side stand down the bike will not now start ,engine turns over but bike will not start until i put side stand back up and pull clutch in before pressing starter and then she fires up again. I have changed the neutral switch that fits under the gear lever  near the sump, and i have changed the prop stand switch plus the solenoid switch. Does any one have any ideas please as i have run out of ideas, thanks in advance Fred.

safety switches

From what you say the neutral switch is not giving earth when in neutral and not lighting the green light on the dash. Can you give this wire to the switch an earth to see if the green light comes on with ignition switched on?

Neutral light

I had a similar problem on a zzr600. Turned out to be a little control unit that wouldn't allow it to start unless stand was up or clutch in etc. Diodes burnt out. Went to maplins and replaced all 3 for less than a quid!
