Honda XL125 Varadero (2001-current)

Although only a 125, there’s plenty of big bike feel with the Honda XL125 Varadero. The proportions are right, the motor feels spunky and as it’s a Honda you know it’s not going to fall apart beneath you. As a first bike or commuter the Honda XL125 Varadero represents a clever investment with its low insurance group and parsimonious fuel...

Great First Bike

I got my baby last year, full of excitment, I gingely took It on the road. Its a very forgiving bike. A few times I let my hand slip of the clutch and It just came to a stop with out leaving me in road minus bike. I would say that over 15.000 miles you need to keep it well serviced. I brought mine from Hunts in Manchester and I would'nt buy another over 15000 miles. Mines coming up to 20.000 now and the chain came off and now wont start. Also had bulb headlight problems. The thing keeps blowing But I must admit I could have looked after it a bit better. With regular service intervals. Over all a fine bike to ride and feels like your in with the big boys. That is until they see your L plates. Happy Riding..

i've had my 55 plate from new, and i did treat it badly cosmetically. lol.

its had a accident and i streetfightered it now but its still a strong motor. only bad points are:

when you deck it, its either the footpeg or the actual cast alloy footpeg bracket that breaks off, hope its just the peg as last time i bought a bracket it was £75 and if its the left side you have to pull the swingarm spindle out to swap it. right hand side is a case of nut off, put bracket on nut back on again.

it overheated the clutch due to too many burnouts, but the brakes are shit hot and have outbraked many bigguns with double discs etc to a stop.

goes for ever on fuel i made it from Romford, Essex to Swansea on 1 tank of fuel going by the A roads.

took me 11 hours though including breaks...
