Cans

From http://www.dirtbikebook.com/acatalog/990_SuperDuke_Acc_s.html "Your motor’s potentials will be awakened; the designs for this system come from the same department which designs the racing versions of Akrapovic exhaust systems. In addition, due to the use of high-tech materials, you will gain weight savings and improve the overall characteristics of your bike. With improved looks, awesome and sound and a 55% weight reduction, what more could you ask for? ONLY FOR RACING !! NEW MAPPING NECESSARY!" However, the pic there seems to show removeable baffles in the spouts of the cans too, which would make them road legal and e-marked. As sg72 says, it would need a remap because of the CAT, even if the power gain wasn't huge. New mapping shouldn't be a hassle, just downloading a new map into the Engine Management System. Certainly it's easy on other bikes I'm aware of, but I suppose the KTM might be different. Hurry up and get it done, we need answers Dammit! :) Mitch

It could have been already?

Phoned up today to see how they were getting on with my bike Basically,Told to phone back Tommorow. I am just hoping they have all the parts required for sorting after my, Cough! Accident. Remember, this bike is still not run in yet It is SD 2 after my original, handback. Hopefully Let yous' know on Friday night. Get the feeling they don't have the Carbon Instrument cowl I ordered 2 months ago! ( I need this as the original got bust.). Edited by: sg72 on June 22 2005, 20:48

Seen the Akras in the flesh

Man, they totally destroy the look of the rear. They lengthen the rear by almost double - I cannot believe many people will have them when they see just how long they are compared to the originals. It has certainly confirmed that I'm not gonna get 'em.

Yes they are longer!

Well was up enquiring how my bike was getting on. Sure the Akros? were fitted and mapped. But rest of bike is still unfinished. B..t..ds. Yes the Cans are longer But would you have refused to buy the SD If they had come as Standard. My recommendations do not run to just looks! Lets face it The whole bike looks a Bit out of the ordinary.

Bikes Back with Pipes

Picked bike up today. Cans certainly change the looks and weigh at least half the original set. Finnish is V.Good. And they do run Hot!(I didn't order the carbon heat sheilds though. So no passengers.) Nice bark on throttle opening and occasional Pops and bangs on overrun. Idle seems to be set a bit higher though 1500revs?

What can I say?

Bike is now kicking reputedly 130bhp at crank. 12 over standard . Plus its a lot lighter. 'Tis a Flighty Beast. (Much like My Duke 2. Although more so!). Don't give a Toss about the looks. The difference is considerable over Standard. The sound, I am sure is more annoyance than Classic bike sounding though!

The G.P.Rs look better

I hear what you're saying about the cans and how they look - it does not really matter. Just seems a shame because the opportunity to make them shorter, and therefor look less bad, has been missed. The G.P.R. items look much better and I am investigating getting hold of some.
