Video: Donington returns!

Historic bike circuit Donington Park opened its doors again last weekend, and MCN senior road tester Adam Child was the first to lap the reshaped track...  http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1119137831http://www.brightcove.com/channel.jsp?channel=711881422 // By use of this code snippet, I agree to the Brightcove Publisher T and C // found at http://corp.brightcove.com/legal/terms_publisher.cfm. var config = new Array(); /* * feel free...

2ND MOTOGP BRITISH ROUND

A great video and it would be even better if it could be added to the Motogp circus at some point in the future, as after all Spain gets more than it's share of Motogp so a 2nd round Motogp from the UK would be nice. Come on Carmelo get your digit out and add it to Motogp Ciao

Back to basics all right

Well done for getting the track back but it does look very bumpy between Macleans and Coppice plus all those wide strips of black replacement tarmac look as if they could need close attention. The Dunlop bridge has gone and it looks like all the various stands around the circuit have gone too. I hope the organisers bear all this in mind when opening for events - be sure to tell the paying public what they are going to get and all the customer dissatisfaction that the previous owners were deaf to can be avoided and the facility gradually brought up to current standards.

why does the UK deserve another MotoGP round?

it's always been the case that spain has led interest in GP racing, along with the Italians.  having a spaniard in charge of Dorna i'm sure is also a complete coincidence that spain has 4 rounds of MotoGP this year .... not.  the UK has one GP round, one WSB round and probably the best domestic series in BSB in the world.  not bad going.

potfiller - what stands around the circuit?  Donny has always had bugger all stands to speak of, apart from some temporary items along the pit straight and at Redgate for MotoGP.  i agree though that Donny has a long way to go to get itself back properly.  i doubt we'll see MotoGP at Donny before 2020, if not longer.

Britain had the best domestic series in BSB. If BSB today is still the best, i pity the rest of the world. Gone are the days of big teams and even bigger riders..

Redo it and then cut his fat backside out of the video and it would be a bit better. In fact a whole lot better.

Donnington

Just watched the video and Adam Child was definitely not the first person to ride the reopened Donnington. Hundreds of racers beat him to it.

Why the CRMCC let him ride I will never know MCN didn't even have the courtesy to do a proper report preferring to claim the first ride along with the glory of it.

Donnington Returns

Can we all look at the positives? Donnington is open, thats what we all wanted, now we have to support the new owners and understand the financial restrictions so that they can go and do the best for the heritage, the track, the riders and US!

The fact that you don't like Neevsey's bum is not the point, the point is one of the best circuits in the world is back. Lats all celebrate the fact and help by visiting and telling the owners in the best way possible how to improve it, and hopefully this time they will listen, rather than taking the dosh and running.

GOOD LUCK!

I don't think anyone believes he did the first ever lap. So chuffed its open again I've booked a track day on 20Sep10. The last owners took a risk and got shafted by the global economy, thanks to greedy banks and stupid yanks. You've got to take risks to get on in life. Long live Donny! Praying for a dry day.

Donington

Firstly, its Donington, not Donnington, why does everyone get that wrong?

That track looks like the national circuit, what happened to this so called massive restructuring? Or have they simply reverted to the old layout? (I certainly hope so, personally I've never minded the melbourne loop, it's still legendary)

Glad to see it back in use, what a shame we'll not see MotoGP back there.
