quality bikes but they did seem a bit over priced. the new price is probably what they should have been pitched at in the first place. i wonder if yamaha and honda will follow suit.?

About time

Perhaps KTM were overpriced.  Hopefully this will help move product.  I believe that with the exception of the RC8 every bike on discout above offers considerably more than its Japanese counterpart; which is the case with most new Eruopean motorcycles.

Yup a 990 SMT is now roughly the same price as the new FZ8 - a real bargain I'd say!

Mankes me laugh when they do this!  Oh just chop 2K off the price, we will still make a profit, shows your not getting half of what you think your paying for!  A deal for some but a kick in the balls for others!

Is this a sign of a manufacturer finally understanding that you'll sell more bikes and make more money (sales percentage of the market and after sales etc too) if you drop the price rather than sell less more expensive bikes. I hope so. Although used prices will drop too. Ok if you're buying, not too good if trading in or private selling.

If only i could afford it

I'd have one of those SMT's without hesitation, unfortunately not going to be in a position to buy new for at least 12-18 months :(

Sinking ship?

This smacks of desperation to me. KTM must really be struggling with the financial climate to make reductions like that
