Motegi MotoGP: Lorenzo wins world championship as Pedrosa breaks left collarbone

Dani Pedrosa’s slim chances of winning the 2010 MotoGP world championship all but disappeared this afternoon in Japan when the Repsol Honda rider broke his left collarbone in a practice crash. The Spaniard was on only his third lap when he crashed heavily with just over five minutes of the opening practice session elapsed. The triple world champion first appeared to have...

Shame ....

What a shame, I was looking forward to a scrap over the next three races, although I always wanted Jorge to win his first championship.

Jorge has proved his ability over this season, so congratulations to him, I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted to win it this way.

As for Pedrosa I was hoping to see an injury free season for him.

Surely you mean Sam Lowes my old bean?

I am gutted as I have Danny in my FRR team :( and he is at least gonna miss Sepang aswell :(

Although my closest rival also has him :) so we both loose out the same

Rossi fastest in FP1 though so hopefully Jorge will have to keep him and Casey and the new 5th alien Ben at bay.

Dovi was quick aswell so don't write him off to be in the mix abit aswell

Fank Yu.

Well that puts a damper on things. I always said that Pedrosa had the guts and determination to take it to the shallow and ineffable Lorenzo. Now he’s going probably going to take the title and can claim that he did it only when his chief rivals had emasculated themselves. Shame.

Generally, it’s very bad for the world when a Spaniard wins the GP title….the last time it happened, the stock market crashed, we had Y2K, Blair at the Millennium Dome and the Queen Mum die….all within months of Creville taking the title. Never trusted them but wishing Dani a speedy recovery. He only has little bones so hopefully he recovers soon and pokes Lorenzo hard for the final laps

survival of the fittest

And the fittest this season is Lorenzo, simple as that. Well done to him, it's been a bloody mess of a year. Hopefully Pedrosa might be back for the last few races.

Your not wrong there, a real battlefield of a year. Shame Pedrosa's out of it, could have made for an interesting couple of last rounds. Get well soon Dani.

However...

You can't take credit away from Lorenzo. He has COMPLETELY dominated the season, with or without Rossi/Pedrosa. Respect.

Get your facts right MCN.  How can you show a headline like this ? he's not won it YET !!   As we all know, anything can, and usually does in racing.
