Honda probably wouldn't put a Supra body on an Accord or Civic, I recon Toyota might get a bit pissed off at that.

The CBR600f was shit before, this is more of the same.

My sincerest apologies to those who I inadvertently offended, this was not my aim. What I set out to do with my comment is question a barrage of comments based on a handful of pictures and 3 lines of text........I read MCN quite often, and since I am interested in the particular category...like everyone else, I added my 2 cents worth.

I get cramps on a race replica and it hurts after a short while!

I repeat,I was about to splash out near 8000 Euro for a brand new Hornet in January - not because I particularly like the look of a naked bike, but because of the upright(ish) position and out of all the reviews and comments and feedback from owners – I am lead to believe that the hornet a very good bike in its class. I was, until yesterday, looking for fly screens and even looked at aftermarket options for fairings on the bike. (Purportedly built by some chap in Brazil). Quite simply, I had two options –lesser bike with fairing, better bike without. Now I have the better bike but with a fairing.

With regards to the name, Honda can call it a CBR a Hornet-F or even “wonderful golden dawn on wheels” for all I care. It’s neither the first nor the last company to dip into heritage to flog off a new piece of kit or screw up the product nomenclature. What is important is that we (the buyers) know what we are getting.
As to how good it is, why don’t we leave that to those lucky bastards that get to test drive the bike. (With and without pillion passenger).

Shoot me please!!!

LOL!!!

In my anger I was thinking "Honda" so instead of Corolla or Camry I said Civic and Accord. Inexcusable either way, so I'll light my cigarette and put on a blindfold while someone does the honor......

It is aimed at a market of few bikes, not everyone wants a race-rep or naked 600cc motorcycle.

I agree that it shouldn't be called a CBR600F, it doesn't contain the CBR heritage or design ethos. The bike is simply a faired Hornet, look at the picture of the instruments and you will see the clutch and brake perch still have the mounts for unfaired mirrors so very little R&D has been put in too alter the motorcycle.

I do not understand how people can be so negative of a bike in which they have yet to see in person, let alone sit on or ride.

Don't apologise, your post was spot on. It seems the CBR600F badge has some kind of 'holy' sanctity to some people that other bikes don't have. For years inline four hondas bore the 'cb' badge, V4's have the VF badge, if its faired it gets the 'R', then the engine capacity, then if its an all rounder it gets an F on the end, R or RR if its sporty. So its four cylinder - CB, Faired - R giving us CBR, its 600cc, so its a CBR600, and its an all rounder so its gets the F - giving us a CBR600F...

RawDawg, Dabulamanzi. Never apologise. Never feel sorry for offending people. What is important is your opinion. People don't have to agree with you, people might not like what you say but...it's your opinion and that's what counts. Some people (one in particular who shall remain nameless) like to think they are always right and are an appointed motorcycle expert. That person pisses me off with their greater than thou bloody attitude but I ignore the said person. As long as your point of view is put across - superb!

Torque figures

Honda give the torque as 64Nm/10,500min for this, the hornet has 63.5Nm/10,500min and the same power, for comparison the CBR600FS sport had 63Nm/10,000min, so it seems pretty much the same, unsure about weights though, I only have dry weights from 2002, and they are all kerb now. Does anyone have kerb weights for the old CBR600F?

aah opinions a double standard lol

lol ok some people have took this bit seriously it looks cheap especially in the red and white also looks too small length wise but that could be due to angles of the pictures as for how can any one make an opinion just by the picture remark well we all do same as if you buy anything you look at the pic in the magazine internet what ever first you don't like it you don't buy it or make teh attempt to go see it so yes making a comment on the bike you see in the pick is valid it does look uncomfortable but then cbr's always did have hard as brick seats will it be faster than the old cbr600f no it wont regardless of specs and figures besides the fact that all new bikes seem to lack a bit of grunt than the older bikes had nothing will ever be as fast as you remember it so remembering the cbr600f you had years ago and going on to this it will feel slow because it wasn't back then and it isn't your cbr600f you had. Question for you if R means race what does the F mean? also think its an ugly looking bike which seems to be a theme for honda at the moment. And to be fare as much as I listen to anyone else opinion only mine has merit to me unless some one wants to buy me a bike then might consider listening a bit more to your opinion :) ooh just to point something out you said to the new poster don't apologize for your opinion but yet kind of slated the other guy for giving his opinion of the guys opinion hehe just thought would point that out as for dry weight of cbr prob nock off 10-15 kg of kerb weight

F stands for...

Erm... I have no idea but it seems to be how they's named their models for years, VFR800f etc, maybe if refers to normal, and r is for race. as for opinions, everyones got one, and what fun would this thread be if nobody disagreed? and as much as I disagree which certain people on here's opinions, and even comment on why I disagree, I wouldn't expect them to apologise for holding that opinion. So its not a double standard by any means.
