Scott Redding to test 1000cc BMW MotoGP bike

Rising British star Scott Redding will begin plans for a MotoGP future later this month when he tests a BMW-powered Suter machine designed for new 1000cc rules in 2012. But it is unlikely the Gloucestershire rider will be fast tracked into the MotoGP world championship in 2012 to line up against the likes of Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo...

For my money the most impressive and improved rider in Moto2, a 'natural' talent.

Great improvement

over the season.

Early season he was qualifying 20th+ and maybe getting into high teens, then occasional points finishes and now from 24th he nearly gets on the podium!

Fabulous.

will be interesting

To see how he takes to the more powerful machinery!
Lets hope he does and makes the move to Moto GP sooner rather than later!

So pleased. ....

I'm really pleased Scott is with a team who will look after him, he was the only Moto2 rider signed sealed and ready to go for next season.  Since the chassis change mid-season, he has gone from strength to strength.  He really will go far.

pleased for Scott, and pleased for 'Moto1'

nice to see that Scott is being considered for a development ride like this one .... and also that his VDS team will try to keep his feet on floor in the meantime.

and hopefully a sneak preview of what MotoGP may look like in 2012 - a mix of full factory teams and a Moto2 derived collection of 1000cc engined bikes in a variety of frames.  there is hope!

Noooooo!!!!!!!!!!

What are you idiots excited about?!

THIS IS NOT A FACTORY BMW BIKE! The headline is totally WRONG. It should read he test 1000cc Suter bike or 1000cc BMW "powered" bike because it IS NOT a 1000cc BMW.

Hopefully this test will lead to NOTHING with the current bike in MotoGP. I think Scot would be best served in a factory supported satellite outfit like Tech 3 or Gresini NOT a truly private team building their own bikes. He has enough skills to be noticed by the proper teams that could lead to a full factory ride.

And the last I remember Suter built HORRIBLE MotoGP bikes in the Kawasaki and Illmor. I don't think Scot should even test the damn thing. Leave that to proven development riders. He needs to try his hand on a "proper" MotoGP bikes not some ill-handling development mule.

even though

past Suters were dreadful, it would be awesome to see BMW enter MotoGP.  Even better would be if Aprilia would talk about it a little...maybe they have no interest (besides no money).  To see max come back to GP on an Aprilia would surely grab everyone's attention.
