Davide Brivio quits Yamaha

When Valentino Rossi opted to join Ducati in 2011 back in early July, it was widely expected that he would decimate his side of Yamaha’s factory’s garage by taking all of his crew with him. That proved the case when Yamaha confirmed to MCN at the Motorland Aragon race in September that Rossi’s entire crew, led by influential Aussie Jerry Burgess,...

"development skills"

Lorenzo seems pretty good at getting the bike to work for him!

If Rossi is such a great development rider, why will he only go with JB and his crew?  Come on guys, with the exception of Pedrosa and his apparent retention of the 2009 chassis, any of the 3 remaining aliens are capable of getting the bike to the stage where they can ride away from the field.

Don't worry about Lorenzo next year - he will be there or thereabouts fighting for the championship.

As for Rossi's deserved success over the years, please bear in mind that much was achieved as the undisputed number 1 of the team he was in at the time and not against the aliens but against Gibernau, Capirossi, Barros and Biaggi (who were on inferior bikes...) - perhaps that perspective should be retained when we seek to suggest the 2010 is somehow tarnished..?

I think a number of you should also read the interview wth JB on page 91 in this weeks MCN. Might help some of you to understand the situation a little better. Especially you svnut. Remember, lies make baby jesus cry

mike27,,,not against the aliens!!!! No just exceptional riders like Biaggi,Gibernau and Capirossi!!!
Dont forget how quickly he mastered the NSR 500 as well.
I am not particularily a Rossi fan but realise he is a special talent now and always has been!
Wake up!

Er Mike27

I think you might find that it is Burgess and his crew who end up going with the money (Rossi) !! They know where their bread is buttered and understand if anyone apart from Stoner can make the Duke work the dream team can.

there's one in every generation

Rossi was/is a very special talent and out of all the guys out there at the moment in the alien bracket . hes the only one with a proven track record through the old fearsome NSR500  ,1000's to 800's and is still cutting the mustard with the kids on the playstation eltronic aided half motorcycles they ride now. He's shown adaptiablity as other have fallen by the wayside and truely deserves his title of the goat.

But to achieve all this Valey has had something very important around him in a settled and familiar pit crew . Jerry Burgess as not only a highly talented mechanic has understood how Rossi's mind works and been a father figure to him. Has picked him up when he's down and mentored Rossi to the legend he is. Having all this around Him will help the move to Ducati alot smoother and keep the legend going.

But lets all put the Rossi is god myth to one side and except that it will come to an end soon. And the man who has done it as an equal with being on the bike that Rossi built is Lorenzo. Theres no he was on a far faster bike arguement like when Stoner won his championship on the 07 missile, which is why in my mind the jury is still out on him.

No Lorenzo has taken Rossi on in his own backyard so to speak and in his own mind doesnt fear Rossi anymore. With the wall thats been between them Lorenzo and his crew have been responsible for the setup of his machine and have nothing to fear next year.

Lorenzo to my mind for what its worth is the ONE in this generation that will take over from the superstar that is Rossi and become the next legend. they will battle hard next yesr for sure but in the coming years it Jorge whos star will shine brightest. ( but he'l never have rossi's personality and marketabilty)
