Kawasaki Z1000SX (2010-current)

Loosely based on Kawasaki’s excellent Z1000, the SX fits snugly in to the gap between said naked bike and the track orientated ZX-10R, making it a grown-up bike for the real world. The near 140bhp inline four motor gives sporting potential, but creature comforts like a new seat, vibration reduction and additional fairing make it a viable long-distance touring bike. For many riders this...

Comparision to CBF and GSX

Why do you even compare the SX to the GSX and CBF? Neither of those bikes have a twin spar aliminium frame with fully adjustable suspension, radial brakes. Those are really really nice bikes, I have ridden the CBF, it's a superb bike but at the end, it has a budget bike feel to it (I'm guessing the GSX is the same as well). The CBF and GSX would make any bike look too expensive let alone the SX. But the SX is in a different league to those, it really is a superbike with comfy ergos.

Er..

Comparison to the GSX1250F isn't really fair. Tubular steel chassis vs aluminium twin spar? The non-ABS Z1000SX is cheaper than the heavier and less powerful (and generally much lower spec) Honha CBF1000, and much cheaper than a FZ1 which is much more comparable in terms of spec. It's even cheaper than the Triumph Sprint GT (although a few hundred quid more than the 2011 Sprint ST). Looks like a very competitively priced bike.

i really like the look of this bike and i cant wait to test ride it , was changing my bike next march and was just going to get another zzr14,  but with rising insurance costs , i may well be tempted by this, i love the colour and i love the exhausts , they are beautiful for standards ,  i hope they have this model available to look over and sit on at the nec this year

Sounds good

As others have said it sounds like a great alternative to the FZ1 - the only other powerful and quality  non sports 1000. Lets hope the insurance group is accurate...

Real beauty

I have been waiting for this bike a long time. I have been driving a lot of sportsbike in the past and at present time steped down to a SV1000. When you are grown up a bit, you want a bike a little more comfy and with some pillion quality. I waited for the Honda VFR12 ,tried it with no rush, and It looked NOT good. But this Kawasaki has it all I think (and hope). I am confident that this will be my next bike!!

Dream bike?

I have done time with the ZX-10R, ZX14(ZZR1400) and 1400GTR so I know the sports riding bit. Without taking anything away from them, those bikes are what they are and do what they were designed to do. However, I have been wishing for the bike that would offer me the best of all of them. It seems that the Z1000SX is that bike.
