Hopkins to BSB rumours: The facts

Crescent Suzuki have admitted they are courting former MotoGP star John Hopkins to race in BSB next year. Winning BSB straight up?

That is highly unlikely. He's class, but certainly no better than the series incumbents. I wonder just how fit he is too. I think he has a pretty dicky hand / wrist. A risky signing at best.

Hope it comes off, Valentine deserves a break.

Oh yeah he sure could ride. He made Suzuki's motoGP bike look alright. Suzuki obviously hven't forgotten him and he comes with sponsors. Good move of Valentine's. I hope it comes off, Valentine deserves a break after loosing out last season.

There was an old has been named Hopper,

Who couldn't even ride a chopper,

He went to BSB,

fell and hurt his knee,

and after that he rode like Roy Cropper!!

good move for Crescent

Some of these posts are pretty wide of the mark.

Hopkins, prior to leaving Suzuki, was a superb rider.  Though there were flashes on the Kawasaki in motogp, he never really hit the heights thereafter.

However, to describe him as a "has been" misjudges his level relative to the BSB grid, where none of the riders, with the possible exception of Kiyo,  would merit a place on the motogp grid.

Really guys, you need to get a grip on the relative standard of BSB - it's good racing, but there is a reason those guys aren't on the world stage!
