Bikes to get warning systems ‘within two years’

Motorcycles that warn riders when they’re speeding or cornering too fast will be on the road in two years, say researchers.    Warning systems have been fitted to a Yamaha Tenere and Triumph Sprint for tests by the Motor Industry Research Association. Details of the tests were first reported by MCN a year ago, when we revealed a prototype would use GPS...

I think we know where...............

this is going don't we !

Shortly followed by a bill passed by an already anti-bike government that enforces the fitting of this piece of nanny state shite along with a compulsory black box that records data that can used by insurers and the law ?

I feel a petition coming on, I'm sure that having one of these fitted would be an infringement of my human rights

Ridiculous

It is astounding to me that they get to spend our money designing something so pointless. It is inevitable they will have to set it up to advise of the slowest corner speed possible- what about the automatic flashing road signs in the UK advising "Slow- Bend- 30mph" on a bend you can go round at 60 in a car or on a bike! As a result, they will be ignored as being overcautious, in the same way the road signs are. It will be impossible to set them up in a useful manner in the litigious times we live in, and would never be as good as training a rider to read the bend. And surely to be effective it would have to be calibrated to bike (can a Goldwing go round a bend the same speed as an S1000RR?), and rider. Also what about surface? Mud, ice, gravel, degradation, spills, potholes... None of this can be updated for every bend fast enough to make the concept useful. No doubt irrespective we will all soon be paying for these useless nanny devices on our bikes in the future.

It won't be on any of my bikes. I already know how fast I can take a bend, after a few years of riding I developed a feel for it. I don't need a computer to tell me, its just another distraction anyway.

Real safety comes from experence not any computer, my right hand is my traction control and ABS. Bikes don't need any of this, all that is needed is a bit of rider skill.

Bloody Stupid

Please tell me,how much more patronising can this industry get. I mean come on, if you can't ride a bike then you shouldn't be on the road anyway. Plus,as if we haven't got enough to watch out for aswell as having a tele on the tank. Wot a load of nonsense

I agree with you Daveire

Can somebody please publish a list of names and planets from whence they came,  so that us earthlings can send them back and carry on enjoying ourselves?  you can tax us and fine us.... you can even jail us but you will never,  ever stop us from wanting to have fun. Now go pick on the real bad people in this world ( even better Your own World).

Utter shite

Much better to fit them to cars first as there are TOO MANY driving round with asswipes at the wheel. Better still make everyone do there bike test and compulsory bike riding for 6 months and maybe then DRIVERS will see there is a SKILL to riding a bike on the roads safely and without falling off.

I got a far better idea!

Lets start educating all the people and government/council departments that together cause so many accidents. For example road designers,  Diesel Spillers, farm vehicle drivers who completely cover the roads in mud, councils that think spreading loose chippings on a thin layer of tar is safe, metal sign post installers/planners, incompetent  rodework repairers ( is there a department that instructs workers to lower drains and covers by at least 2 inches?) and what about installing a device in every car that warns S.M.I.D.S.Y.s about us bikers...............? its not all about speed.

and another thing...!

On a recent trip in a car in all day Fog, our kids were counting cars without any lights on and it worked out about 1 in 10 , so if you  reckon on about 30 million cars in Britain thats a staggering amount of Dumbass drivers! anyone see my point?
