It is Getting Interesting

Well done to Casey who looks right on it. Never rule out Vale. In Qatar he will be at the front.

First day...

blues - new bikes, tyres, riders, leathers, everything.

What can we conclude, the Yam is an incrimental development of lasts year bike, the Suzuki squad will test well and (probably) race badly and Honda are chuckling behind the garages at having signed Casey.

But fair play #27 - start as you mean to continue!

Great first test...

I tried to keep up with the times on the motogp website...  Good on Marco, Aoyama, Bautista and Spies..  they all were up there in the top 3 until about the last hour of the test.. But just like clockwork, JL and then Stoner put their heads down and pulled it out...  two more days to go... whats to come... finally.. GP is here... now if only it would stop bloody snowing here in NY..

An article on www.moto.it said that spies was comfortably running second before he parked his bike for the day and Lorenzo was first at the time. Spies also had an off in the first hour but was nothing serious. Lorenzo hadalso  parked his bike for the day before Stoner pulled his fastest lap. For guys that like to stay out there as much as they can during testing and practice they must be pretty comfortable with their bike if they parked them early.

Parked up

...but the Yam is an evo bike not a new bike, its only going through incrimental changes, the two riders know the bike well from previous year/s and when leading there is no need to continue to push.

On Crash.net Lorenzo states tomorrow they will be testing a new frame/elec/engine. I would imagine we will see the 5th - 17th places change and the top four remain pretty static.

2011 has started!

At last, the waiting is over.

Too early to draw conclusions (day 1 of test 1), but Stoner fast again, Rossi doing only 30 laps and Spies settling into the works bike seem to be the headlines.

One point on Rossi's speed, though.  Surely with a motogp bike, you can't really understand the handling unless you are at the limit.  So, either Rossi and his fellow Ducati riders (almost 2 seconds off the pace) are taking their time to get to said limit or they are already there.

Let's see what the riders say - the phoney war begins today as well!
