Valentino Rossi thrilled with Ducati progress

Valentino Rossi's confidence that he will be challenging at the front on the Ducati GP11 machine in the early part of the new MotoGP season grew in Sepang today, despite the Italian finishing the opening day down in ninth position. With his right shoulder markedly improved from the opening Sepang test earlier this month and his riding style becoming more accustomed...

Thank God

I was hoping he would find the right mix on the new bike as we all want an exciting close season between the best riders, not like last year.

The G.O.A.T

Just goes to show how good and a complete racer Rossi is: Not fully fit but banging in solid lap times and making changes to the bike that Stoner never could, to make 'the un-rideable career killing Ducati' work. He has only been on this bike for a short time and yet he is developing the bike already into a front row contender, and there is no sand bagging with Vale he is just working as hard as he can with his recovering injury to get this bike up to standard before the season starts and thinking of the long game, there's no point in putting his health and the bike at risk by pushing too hard too early.......

Rossi Test

Steady on ... 9th is still not very good. The GOAT has a very significant shoulder injury (repair), giving arm problems like those which spelled the end for Gibernau, Spencer and Schwantz. I hope I'm wrong, but I have a nagging suspicion that the Doc will never be the same rider again. Plus point - he's at Duke so he can make a smooth transition to WSB, if required

But read the writing on one of the threads...

Rossi has  not gone onto the sticky tyre, deciding to get the bike RACE PREPPED not qualifiying prepped.

Staying on hard tyres and constantly in the top six then the others start putting on softer tyres hence faster times..

As far as him not really been ill i bet he IS ill, he wants as much bike time as possible...

He may ride tomorrow and it's because as per another post...there athlete's with the VERY BEST medical help...not pansy footballers...these boys come back from compound fractures 4 weeks after doing this and get top three finishes...a sniffle won't keep him off the bike two days in a row..

He might not do so many laps but will still experiment with various settings...

Ninth in testing means s**t...he's gonna come good...

once rossi gets the bike to corner how he wants there will be no stopping him, JB always said they could take any bike and build it around rossi,

the straight line speed of duke outguns the others on the grid

Totally agree if you look at the stats properly he's still on hard compounds everyone else went onto soft and another point to make how many pole's has Rossi had and how many wins has he had, Vale very rarely starts from the pole he just wait's watches then put's the passes in. Lastly not to labour the point the majority of the grid are on proven machines and are only having to put minimal input in after testing to bring them to race prep standard, and Mikeyy we all know that the award for moaning goes to Casey and definately not Rossi imagine if he had broken his leg at 120+mph and also damaged his sholder doesn't bear thinking about lol !
