Casey Stoner super-fast in Sepang

Casey Stoner was the star of the show again in Sepang today as Honda's sensational start to the 2011 MotoGP world championship campaign picked up further momentum at the Sepang circuit. The Aussie led home a clean sweep of the top three places by the Repsol Honda squad with Stoner's best time of 2.00.171 on his last lap edging out team-mate...

Remember 1996?

Well I think it was '96. Repsol Honda had Doohan, Crivelle, Okada and Gibernau. They also won every race that year. This year they have An Aussie, a Spaniard and an Italian. Ok not exactly the same spread of Nationalities and I'm not saying history repeating.I'm just saying... '-)

1999.

Was when they had Criville, Okada, Doohan (who broke his leg) and Gibernau the year Alex won the title for Honda in the old 500 formula.

2000.

They had a three rider line up as well two Spaniards and Okada then the following season 2001 they went back to the two rider line up Criville and the new recruit Tohru Ukawa who became Rossi's team-mate in 2002.

And miles ahead of a slow dovi......christ do us a favour...

If the top three or four guys went over the line together it would be a photo finish...

If he d whooped it by 1\2 a sec or a second then yeah superfast maybe but come on matt...

He SCRAPED a narrow pointless top time for today...period...

Are you sure AQUARIUS did nt write this thread...lol

Here's the text from GPone:

"Let's take, for example, the lap times recorded by Stoner, Pedrosa and Dovizioso, the Honda riders which dominated testing today at Sepang.

The three are separated by the slightest of margins: 58/1000 between Casey and Dani, with Dovi 360/1000 from the lead.

It's tempting to assume there is a slight gap from Andrea to the Australian and the Spaniard, but a look at all the lap times reveals otherwise.

In reality the only standout of the group is Stoner, seeing that of the 42 laps he did over the day, 5 of them were in the low 2.00 area, with no less than 21 under the 2.02" mark.

For his part, Pedrosa recorded a total of 41 laps, with just 2 in the low 2.00 range, and 12 under 2.02". And Dovizioso's numbers were exactly the same."

that then...

SHOULD READ stoner super consistant...as opposed to super fast...

Then this would be a better reflection of stoners test...rather than a not so accurate title..

P.S this isnt a dig at stoner as much a dig at MCN for the bigging up title'

Forget practice days there`s no pressure Dovizioso & Pedrosa are fast... so what they have been with honda for years they should be its the best bike out there its a honda!!! But Casey has come straight in & beat both, he is a class above up there with Lorrenzo & Rossi...

Stoner's problem is not his speed, its he likes parting with the bike when hes under pressure. I recon this season will be like the last 2 and the last time he rode for Honda. He sure likes that gravel.
