950 Darren...

didn't know Jnr had gone 'solo' !  I always thought there was a lot of playing up for the camera, didn't realise it was taken so seriously!!

Chopper...

i believe they decided it was best for them as a family and as a company... and Paul Jr has gone into comercial design now, and is doing corporate design for companies.. one of his i saw was for a 'george forman type' grill/barbecue.. where he blinged it up for a mass market.. it is a good series tho.. and the did build some pretty cool bikes!!

But as Blader said paul jr did go in to corporate design..he done a couple of things then went back to building choppers again..He hired Vinnie and a couple of others who used too work for OCC and hasnt looked back...I think they have made 8 bikes in as many months to rave reveiws....

personally

I used to like chops more when blokes built bikes out of parts they'd made, as I did back in the dim and distant! OK it was a BSA A10, but it was different and I built it, not bought it.

Almost everything you see now is a 'show' machine. Mine was daily transport and I loved it!

With you there, mostlyslowly,

used to occasionally pick up the British custom mags, and way back Brit chops used to feature in the mainstream bike mags too, used to use all sorts  of engines and parts, Brit Twins, Jap fours (V and inline) singles, twins triples and so on, now it seems you have to fit an american V twin.......................one even made it into the Ace Cafe bike (featherbed Norton type frame, Harley engine?? surely that should have been a parallel twin of British origin?? can't have been many Harley caff racers in the sixties!)

We were capable of building our own interpretations here without slavishly copying.............................anyway all this bike building stuff on the telly is a bit like the cookery programmes, just bike porn instead of food porn, large part of the population can't cook or prepare food safely, a lot of bikers can't do any more than very basic stuff. Sad, but I suppose that's how it goes, :upset:

It all turned to bollocks the instant they stopped building and started the soap opera.
First series was interesting with little 'spats' between them but more to the point, some incredible creations, the spider bike still a firm favourite.
Last time I looked at it, the whole thing had gone glam to the point of being ludicrous, poor old Vinnie, (the only one who seems to have his head on right)' had a dazed, what the hell happened to the bike building garage i used to work for' look on his face and they had a massive glitzy shop front with more OCC clothing than they'd ever seen bikes, it was worse than the accessory department at a HD dealership, 'it's not just a bike, it's a way of life!'
The entire show focused on the 2 pauls slagging each other left right and centre while lording it up in their half million dollar houses and driving round in their flatbed pickups, in a one hour show I think there was about 10 min of motorbike, a few minutes of which were paul sr taking an old RD of paul jr's and parking it outside his mansion because they weren't talking to one another.
Utter utter shite, might as well watch eastenders
