Jerez MotoGP: Lorenzo wins wet crash fest

Reigning world champion Jorge Lorenzo has won the Jerez MotoGP in wet conditions by 19 seconds ahead of compatriot Dani Pedrosa in a race which only had 12 finishers. Casey Stoner got the holeshot and pulled away on the first lap, with Jorge Lorenzo in second, but neither rider was able to stop Italian Marco Simoncelli taking the lead and opening up...

why oh why do we have to twist everything.Rossi has been the best rider out there for the last decade in the top class period. In the last few years he now has some very serious competition one of which has reached and maybe past his level (lorenzo)

This race was a classic and also showed that Rossi is far from a finished force , he rode the wheels off a bike thats far from sorted and also showed he's still as good as ever if they can turn the bike around.

Yes he fucked up and it wasnt the best pass he's ever made in his life but that is racing. The moment he got back into the paddock he went straight to stoners garage to try say sorry. Theres nothing he can do to stop the press from following him but is some how being made out as if he asked them to come with him.

What if he hadnt got straight to stoner after the race to say sorry? im sure the same people that are calling him would be slagging him down as arrogant for NOT going the striaight there, he cant win.

Guys racing is racing ,and im sure most of the riders regret half of what they say in the heat of the moment when emmotions are running high. They will all at some point try to make a daft over taking menovere that goes wrong and take someone down.

It was a brillant race today lets not spoil it by dragging the conspiriscey theories into it. it was all hard racing and nothing more.

Its shaping into a great season already, the first two races have been brilliant already havent they???

i know he is australian,but...

i think we should all hold our hands up to casey guys, because  we all thought that there was one rider in the world  who coulld ride the ducati better than him.maybe we are wrong?lets face it,that bike must be a monster to ride, there is just no front end grip.i have no doubt that together with ace technician jerry burgess valentino will grind out respectable results by mid season, but they may need to radically change the chassis[monocoque] to stand on the top step on race day.perhaps its best to forget this season and smoke the competition next year when the big engines return, when the big bikes may be a bit too heavy for casey and danni?

Now this is interesting. . .

I'm actually starting to get interested in MotoGP again!  Gosh maybe we'll have surprises throughout the seanson.  And here I thought this year would be a throw-away, with the factories not investing money in developing bikes that will be obsolete next year.  I may actually go to Laguna Seca this year.

What it says in Marca/Equipe

I like to have a peek in sports papers from other countries, to see what people are saying about something I have a strong opinion on (the Rossi x Stoner crash).

-MARCA sports paper (Spain): Remarked on how no one helped Stoner restart, and apparently Stoner waited for Rossi to come by in the next lap, to applaud him (ironically of course). They did however think that he didn't accept Rossi's apology in good grace. (the article has a great photo of Stoner applauding Rossi: http://www.marca.com/2011/04/03/motor/mundial_motos/1301839271.html)

-L' Equipe (French): Only reported the crash from Rossi's perspective... Shows how much they care about Stoner

-Record (Portuguese): Ran the Stoner quote as a headline for their article about the crash. Talk of fanning the flames . According to them Stoner went on to say in the press conference that he left Rossi a great bike, but Rossi needed to heal is shoulder before he could handle it :roll eyes:. Rossi apparently said that he didn't care what Stoner said, he just thought it was important that he apologized.

Private Apology

Racing Incident. Understood. The comment which Casey made when Vale went to apologies. Also understood. He is ALLOWED to make a snarky comments. Gee Stoner would of been fired up about the whole incident. Didn't have time to cool off. But even if he did, I still think the comments were quite funny. Championship is gone for Casey. You can't afford a DNF. Especially this year. Hope I am wrong. As for Vale taming the Duke. Fark that... people were falling... and it was a wet race. Only when there is a dry race and Vale can bring the Duke on the podium... then I will acknowledge that he is finally coming to terms with the Duke. The irony is that it was the Front end issue that brought down Casey last year, and seems the Duke is still causing him to Crash. Pissed off man... I wish Vale had taken his helmet off ;)

Ok Mr Birt (or is it Enverdale!),

Time to get u'r finger out! Up here in Scotland we've watched Kev's highly successful progress in europe with much pride over the past few years, but where has MCN been? Kev is one of the most successful "British" riders in recent years but how often has he graced the pages of your publication? Leon! Cal! Brad! Scott! - Many column inches AND RIGHTLY SO!

But you have SERIOUSLY BALLSED UP! 2nd ATTEMPT IN MOTO2 = 8TH - No surprise to us - How come u didnt see it coming? GET BEHIND HIM!

I dont comment on here often but I'm a racer ( 1st ) man and human being ( 2nd ) and i feel right now i need to. The club racing world in the UK is a small one, you've been posting comments for a short amount of time and have rapidly shown that you have no sense or feeling for the truisms of the sport or the men behind it. Kindly keep your racist, vitriolic, childish talk off a forum which is enjoyed by proper humans with much more broad-minded views than yours. Peace and ride safe.
