New ‘Dakar Edition’ of KTM 990 Adventure launched

KTM’s stunning 990 Adventure has a new, limited edition stablemate – the 990 Adventure ‘Dakar Edition’. Built to commemorate both 30 years of the Paris-Dakar race and the Austrian firm’s 10th successive victory in the desert classic, the new version blends the standard 990 Adventure chassis with the uprated Adventure R’s 115bhp engine plus a range of cosmetic updates including orange...

Nice bike...but another money making racket...

The KTM PARIS-DAKAR...Nice bike, great colours and still the one to beat when looking for a replica desert racer. The SUPER TENERE,and even the BMW, aren't up to it, in the looks at least. Nearly £10,000 though is A LOT OF CASH for two wheels.......

A bit late for a Dakar replica...

450cc limit for the Dakar from now on. Nice if you can afford one though.

I've ridden an Adventure for 5 years, never had any problems with the brakes. To be fair, shutting off the right hand engages a hell of a lot of V-Twin engine braking, that also keeps the bike balanced. I've just bought a special edition today, and Dakar bikes were based heavily on the 690 ADV for many years. (last year Despres and Coma used down tuned 690's, this year it's max 450) The 990 is far too big and heavy, but it's a brilliant ride that looks brilliant. Can't wait to pick it up next week :)
