Bluetooth compatability of differing manufacturers

I am looking carefully at getting a bluetooth unit for bike to bike intercom. When I read closely the techie print, all manufacturers are intimating that intercom is only available between their ( same manufacturers sets). Is there anyone out there who has used, say for example Sharktooth with a Scalarider unit for intercom???

Hi,  I have not used kit from different manufacturers as an intercom but I have used my cardio unit with various phones and my satnav.  The communication technology is Bluetooth's, used under license, so units from different manufacturers should still work OK together.  I think they put those warnings on there to discourage you from buyother other companies kit.
